North Pacific Adaptation Policy

The following are North Pacific policy documents originating with a federal government agency describing to some degree the government's adaptation policy, and other federal-level resources. Starred items were analyzed in my 2010 Master's Thesis for the International and Area Studies program of UC Berkeley.

Canada, China, Japan, Russia, and the U.S. are considered the main states of the North Pacific here.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC):

N.B.: Environment and Climate Change Canada was created in 1971 from parts of the Meteorological Service of Canada and the Canadian Wildlife Service. It works with the four other natural resources departments: Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Health Canada, and Natural Resources Canada.

N.B.: The Interagency Climate Change Adaptation Task Force was convened by the White House Council on Environmental Quality, White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and worked in coordination with the U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP), which still (as of Oct. 2017) technically exists, though severe cuts to its budget have been proposed. In March 2017 a budget was proposed that would cut all staff at the USGCRP.
